Exhibition & Storytime
Online & In-person
Camden has a strong history of hard work. The local pioneers built the community with their ‘hands-on approach’ to their own daily measures to make ends meet as well as working together to create a better place for all to live. Often their income relied on their management of land that was virgin bush. Other times they needed to work as a community just to get things done.
Camden village was established in 1840, with minimal infrastructure or built environment. Here are the stories of some residents of this area and their endeavours to service the needs of their community, looking at the period from 1880s to post World War 2. Most of the businesses may have gone but the buildings, some with extensions and renovations, are still here.
The events for History Week include an online exhibition as well as a photographic display in the library. There will be a History Week themed Preschool Storytime (bookings required) with a visit to Camden Museum.
