Magic and Witchcraft in Ancient Greece

Magic and witchcraft existed in all ancient cultures across the globe. These practices encompassed most if not all of the stereotypical forms of occult rituals modern people associate with magic and witchcraft in fairy tales, novels, and films. In ancient Greece, for example, there were real 'hands-on' practitioners of magic and witchcraft. From professional to semi-professional magicians and witches, the ancient Greeks were never in short supply of an expert who could make a potion, summon ghosts, or cast a protection spell.

In this illustrated online lecture, join Professor Marguerite Johnson as she takes you on a magical journey that looks at both 'hands-on' magic and the 'hands-on' archaeological practices that have shed light on this fascinating subject.
