In Person Talk
"Charmian Clift is remembered as an Australian expatriate, living in Greece. After returning with her family to Australia in 1964 she settled in Raglan Street, Mosman
This was the time when the author was at the height of her powers, writing the weekly newspaper column that has recently caused critic Peter Craven to describe Clift as the ‘greatest essayist this country has produced’.
2023 marks the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Charmian Clift. This History Week talk by Clift’s biographer, Nadia Wheatley, will focus on the writing of the column and the role it played in the lives of its readers during the transformative decade of the 1960s. "
