On 28 April 1789 Captain William Bligh of HMAV Bounty was startled awake by the presence in his cabin of his first mate, Fletcher Christian, and several others. After being cast off HMAV Bounty, Bligh navigated the overcrowded 23-foot (7.0 m) open launch on an epic 41-day voyage the Dutch East Indies port of Kupang on Timor equipped with a quadrant, a pocket watch, sextant and a compass. The Bounty Museum on Norfolk Island has an exact replica of the Bounty Launch on display from the Maritime Museum UK. Discover the voyage of HMAV Bounty's launch of 1789.
