People of the River: A Cooks River Walking Tour
Join local researcher Andrew Redfern and wander the winding path of the Cooks River and uncover the hidden stories of those who’ve lived, worked, celebrated and remembered along its banks. This guided walking tour invites you to explore the layers of history and community that have shaped this stretch of river—from quiet resilience to vibrant tradition.
Discover tales of everyday lives and extraordinary events, from early settlers to market gardeners, riverside rituals to forgotten industries. With a special focus on the people behind the places, this walk brings the human history of the river to life.
Whether you're a local history lover, a curious walker, or someone tracing family roots, join us for a reflective and engaging journey along one of Sydney’s most storied waterways.
Andrew is a passionate family historian currently a member of the Education and IT committees of the Society of Australian Genealogists. Andrew will enlighten the social and genealogical aspects along the Cooks River.
